The Jamia's Third Director

The Jamia's third director was Qutb-e-Alam Hazrat Allama Shah Jamir Uddin Nanupuri (rahimahullah). Thirteen years before his own passing, Hazrat Nanupuri (the second director) appointed Qutb-e-Alam Khatib-e-Islam Shah Jamir Uddin Nanupuri (rahimahullah) as director, and he carried this great responsibility with tireless effort for nearly 27 years. Through Hazrat Nanupuri's complete confidence in him, and Shah Jamir Uddin's own sacrifice and supplication before Allah, Jamia Obaidia advanced many times over beyond what it had been. Qutbul Alam Allama Shah Jamir Uddin Nanupuri (rahimahullah) was born in an auspicious hour in 1936 into a respected family of the well-known village of Nanupur in Fatikchhari, Chattogram District. His father was the late Abdul Gafur Sahib (rahimahullah); his grandfather was the late Niamat Ali, and his great-grandfather the late Himmat Ali — a family of considerable distinction. After his early education at the local primary school, he was admitted to Jamia Ahlia Darul Uloom Moinul Islam, Hathazari, one of Asia's foremost Islamic universities, where he completed the full Dars-e-Nizami curriculum with outstanding distinction. Through his continued skill and diligence thereafter, he established himself as an enduring spiritual guide and a man of singular character. He was as much an exemplary teacher as he was a compassionate spiritual leader (rahbar) for the community. In short, his role was undeniable and vigorous across every field of religious life — teaching, spirituality, the mission of da'wah, and the founding of mosques and madrasas. His enduring achievements will remain forever memorable. On the night of Saturday, 5 February 2011, after performing Isha prayer and completing his personal preparations, he put on his burial cloth, and — reciting the names of Allah — answered the call to "Rafiq-e-A'la," the noblest of companionships, leaving behind thousands upon thousands of grieving students, devotees, disciples, and admirers, and bidding this fleeting world his final farewell.
